Wolf at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
About
Forget everything you've heard about that gentler, kinder Pete Dye at Paiute. When you step onto the Wolf Course at the Las Vegas Paiute Resort, the legendary architect with the cold hacker heart returns. And then some. The newest of the three Paiute courses, comes in at a staggering 7,604 yards.
And it's an isolated 7,604 yards. You don't only get lost in your round here. You could almost literally get lost in the desert with a few wrong turns off the cart path. Drives that go flying off target deep into the desert areas are unlikely to found by another human ever. A rattlesnake might be keeping your Pro V1s company for the rest of their days. This is stunning scenery, capable of leaving the most cynical hacker open mouthed.
Paiute Wolf is just a far enough drive away from the Sin City hustle that it's likely the top, high-end course you can easily get on last minute in the Vegas valley. It also might be the best of them all.
Also known as Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort - Kwetoo-Unuv Course.

17th hole "island green" Paiute Wolf Course Photo submitted by RockinDoc on 10/05/2012
Vegas activity
Decided to get away from the strip and play a round of golf. Played the Wolf course which was in excellent shape. The entire facility is very well maintained. The tees and fairways were in Excellent shape and the greens were Very Good. The staff was very pleasant and worked hard to make the round and excellent experience. The drawback was the play was slow. Excellent value for the money.
Too many players
We played the front nine twice because the course was grossly overbooked and packed. The second front nine was played in under an hour (twosome). We would never have completed 18 holes had we played the full 18.
Our cart ran out of power on the 17th hole so we had to push it to some down hills to get back to clubhouse.
Rangers responded quickly to our complaint of slow play and drinkers leaving beer cans in front of us.
Very nice course though in good condition.
Loved the experience
I had the pleasure of playing the Wolf at Paiute on Oct. 5th in pm and loved it ! The course was in perfect conditions and the staff was very friendly ! I would recommend this course to anyone going in the area ! We used rentals, Taylor Made Speedline, and they were great ! The beverage cart came to us 4-5 times which was just perfect !
Worth the drive.....
Enjoyed this one a lot, except that I was a single behind 6 foursomes. After 5 holes the starter came out and had me start over again, were I played without any stopping for 14 more holes.. The course was great and so was the range.. Nice views and well kept up.. Course was worth the drive, about 25 miles from Downtown North on 95.. I would play this one again. and I will
Wolf..Lived up to great reviews!
The whole course is well maintained and was in excellent condition. Very friendly and accommodating staff; lady concierge confirmed my flight schedule and printed my boarding pass and saved me a lot of hassle back at the hotel. Food wise, I only had the grab and go egg sandwich and the Golf energy drink. Expanded pro shop very nice, offered unique but relevant golf items.
Next trip I will be with a foursome.
Great course. In great condition. Had a great time.
Excellent course in great condition. Staff was outstanding. Course play was excellent. Great day overall.
Wolf has bite
A fair test of golf. Just make sure your swing is in order. Most holes have wide fairways for tee shots. The challenge comes from the approach shots. Course design and condition is excellent. Played as a twosome and finished in 3 and a half hours.
perfect weather
Would have given a 5 star rating in every category except some sanding maintenance had been done on the greens and they weren't as fast as they could have been.
Desert golf at its finest!
Awesome course. In the middle of the desert surrounded by incredible views of the mountains. It was hot, but nice breeze was welcoming. Greens were overdressed with sand mixture, but wasn't that much of an issue.
Worth the drive !
Great Course , plush conditions and great layout. Definitely worth 25 min drive from strip. Played in 4 hours and saw course Marshall at least 4 times monitoring pace of play
Absolutely stunning views
10-12 handicap player. I played from the whites (6000 yds) as was playing with my buddy who is probably 25 handicap. Beautiful views, lush green fairways and greens. Hole layout was surprisingly hilly for being in a flat expanse of the desert. Most drive landing areas were wide and forgiving, but for wild hitters, losing balls in the desert could happen on every hole. Greens were challenging due to the fact that they were well- guarded by bunkers, and many were elevated greens making run-up shots impossible. We really enjoyed the course, the views, the clubhouse - top notch facility and crew. Location looks far from the strip in Vegas, but it was a super easy drive, and nice to get away from the strip as well. Will definitely play again.
Great course
Fabulous course and friendly staff. First class course!
A fine Dye with a few really interesting holes.
As a Pete Dye afficianado, I heartily recommend the Wolf at Paiute north of Las Vegas. The greens were excellent and ran about 11. The 8th hole is classic dye and with a back right pin placement and bunker that catches anything right and is 20ft below the green, it's true test of mental strength for an expert to go for the flag. It's not that long, but most players couldn't go for the flag with a wedge, let alone a hybrid! The island green 15th also tests character, and good players must play 16 from the tips to get the full effect and pleasure from correctly negotiating the S-shaped waste area. Also, 18 should be played from the tips. it's not as long as the 500 yds as it's downhill, but only hitting from the tips brings the water/bunker bottleneck into play. There are multiple tees and most have their own brass plate F/M/B distances.
True Desert Experience
No neighborhoods, houses or airports. Truly a golf oasis in the desert. Fairways are wide and undulating. First cut of rough is thick Bermuda making flyer lies a problem. Of course the second cut is rocks, cactus and sand, so hitting fairways is a must. Greens are fast and don't break near as much as they look. Island green par three 15th is one of the prettiest holes you'll see anywhere.
The staff was extremely friendly calling me by name since arriving. Overall a great tough course that's fair enough for anyone to play. My next trip to Vegas will definitely include Piaute.
Maybe one or two things
My GPS seemed to be off quite a few times. Additionally it would be nice to have a course book that showed where and how the holes shaped up. If you have one in the pro shop i didnt see one?
Great course!! Love it here!!
Great Day at Paiute
Overall great experience and great golf. Course was in very good condition and it was a pleasure to play. Good marshal presence on the course kept the pace of play on track, all staff very friendly and helpful.
Unbeatable views and a great course
Lots of very interesting holes and great views on the Wolf! Would definitely play there again, I have not played the other two courses, but I bet they are fun as well. The range and practice greens are huge and in perfect condition. Lucked out on the weather, it was 80 deg with no wind in the afternoon. I played the black tees and shot a 79, nearly paring the back 9. The perfect conditions give you confidence to hole putts.
The Wolf Is Worth The Trip
This is my 3rd trip to Paiute and I was not disappointed. The facilities and course are phenomenal.
Great course / Average Staff
The course was in great shape and well kept. Bunkers a-plenty, rolling fairways, and well-placed greenside traps made sure you had to be accurate with your shots. The only downside for the day was the attitude of one of the proshop workers. We happened to be in the area earlier than expected and asked if it were possible to get out early (about 90 mins. early). Although admitting the course was "wide open" and he didn't have any other players going out in front of us, he proceeded to get an attitude with us when I asked him to maybe call a manager to check for approval - especially since NO ONE went out ahead of us for the next 90 minutes. Oh well - still a great course to play!
Always a great day at Paiute
Played a practice round for a golf channel am tour event and the course was perfect. Windy with soft fairways and hard fast greens. Played in less than 4 hours with 2 nice guys I joined up with. Always a challenge from tee to green and then you get to the hardest part, chipping and putting!
