Thistle Golf Club - MacKay Course

Super course conditions tee to green. Good pace of play. Will definitely return next time we are in the area. Best course we played this week.

I played this a few years ago on a golf trip but unfortunately the day we played it was windy and off and on rainy weather. I could tell at the time however that this was a top notch course and made a note to play it again in good weather. Today was the day. I was traveling with my wife and given a chance to play golf one morning. When this course appeared on the search results I just had to play.

It wasxa beautiful day and the course was in great shape. I would definitely like to come and play again with friends.

Course was 2 days after Hurricane and still perfect conditions. It was car path only but still great pace. Ranger came out a few times informing our group (we were a bit slow) to keep pace and play quicker. Ranger was very respectful and nice about it.

Very fun. Extremely great links course 10/10 recommend.

Played 3 courses the week I was there. Out of respect I won’t name the other 2 but they didn’t touch the quality of Thistle. Wish I would have played it all 3 days. Must Play Track!!!

Watch out for the 3 legged gator on hole 2 tee box. He was ornery and wouldn’t let us pass! Amazing course conditions. Grounds keeping staff was out in full force. There wasn’t a blade of grass out of place. Very pleasant round and better conditions than True Blue the day prior.

The fairways are impeccably maintained, and the rough is forgiving, allowing for recovery from errant shots. You have the option to choose from three distinct 9-hole courses when booking your tee times, provided one is not undergoing maintenance.

Great courses, fantastic layout. Will be back again

The course was in really good shape for the tees, fairways, bunkers and greens. The greens were really soft though and consequently a little inconsistent. The staff was very friendly and the amenities were wonderful for lunch or post round beverages. This is a golf course you really need to play a couple of times to know where to hit it and enjoy the layout. It was nice enough to go back and play again but only if you can get a discounted rate. The $110-$125 green fees were a bit steep for this track in my opinion.

Thistle never disappoints!

Even in the August heat the greens were rolling nicely about 11, fairways in great condition and the rough was challenging but playable! My buddy had to cancel and I had to use Golfnow customer service to help me get my tee time back and it all worked out perfectly! I got paired up with 2 guys and they were prepared for the birdies with shots of cold vanilla crown YUM!!

We played The Thistle 15 years ago. The course was amazing then and didn't disappoint now. More houses exist around the course. The layout and course conditions were terrific. The staff is very efficient and friendly.

The driving range was beat up (all dirt, no grass). Pace of play was slow. 2 groups in front of us fell 3 holes behind.

The pub after our round was refreshing and our server very friendly. Definitely a 5 star course and experience.

Beautiful course that is well maintained. The holes were challenging but not overly difficult. The staff was incredibly friendly to visitors from out of town and made the check in process enjoyable. Would definitely recommend playing here and want to play again in the future.

Course was in good shape. A little pricey and it was cart path only, course does not drain well. Other courses in area were off the paths.

First time playing, and played with just my wife, it was very hot, and we didn't see the beverage cart but one time, the ranger was around, but had no water. We did have water, but would have been nice to have it fresh.

Great Course, in very good condition, can't wait to play it again.

Thistle is a tremendous course. Great facilities, excellent condition and great staff. Certainly one of the top courses in the Myrtle Beach area (a little drive from N. Myrtle). One of my favs.
