The Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables sits next to the beautiful hotel, an architectural masterpiece that was modeled after the Giralda Tower in Seville, Spain. Donald Ross designed the course in 1925 and the traditional layout has retained all of its original character. The golf course weaves through a series of canals that used to carry guests along in gondolas. The canals run alongside the lush fairways while towering banyan trees frame the elevated greens. Offering views of the historic hotel from nearly every hole, there are carts available but the golf course is worth the walk. The layout is popular not only for its historic scenery and verdant setting, but also for its playability. Over the years the Biltmore has been host to a number of professional golfers and celebrities ranging from Babe Ruth to Tiger Woods.

Overrated. Not bad but not worth driving 30 miles to get there. Just OK, don't pay too much.

Biltmore

The course had a great layout with little water. Bunkers were in great shape and made you hit accurate shots upon the Green. The greens were rather slow, but putted consistently. Fairways were fairly open and gave you lots of room to drive. I played the blue tees, about 6,200 yards. I could not reach any of the par 5's in two shots, but could easily get there in three. The pitching and putting greens were top notch. I also enjoyed the outdoor restaurant area following play. The only issue I had was parking. Would highly recommend this course to friends.

A great Donald Ross course, The Biltmore

Wow, Biltmore was in the best shape ever.Tees .fairways and greens were perfect, green were just the right speed . Would recommend this course to all, can be a bit pricey in winter , but Golfnow rate was as low as it gets. The course is a bit short but the greens are difficult to read and very fast downhill, so stay below the hole.Best holes are 5,7,11,12,13,and 17, enjoy this Donald Ross Gem in Miami.

Great golf experience

Great Donald Ross layout. Not difficult but with good challenges if you play from the right tee for your game. Conditions were excellent, the greens are a tiny bit too slow for my liking but were in great shape and the ball rolled very well. In all a great golfing day, made even better with the help of the staff. Go play it.

Biltmore worth playing

Great layout and course was in great shape. There's a good variety of dog legs, and several tiered greens. Some of the approaches to greens are guarded by water hazards which makes for a challenging round. The greens rolled true and were difficult but fair.

Fantastic Donald Ross Course

I was able to get a Hot Deal and played what is normally a very expensive upscale course for a fraction of the cost. Despite blustery (yet sunny) conditions, it was a fantastic day on the golf course and I enjoyed my experience at the Biltmore immensely. The place is shrouded in history and the timeless layout is a treat to play.

The Biltmore was (and is always) in pristine condition and the greens were some of the truest and most difficult that I have ever played. They were undulating, domed and lightning fast. I felt like I was putting on US Open greens at some points. The layout is fun, fair and filled with character. Players are left with ample room off the tee, but are forced to be creative with their approach shots in order to hold those diabolical Donald Ross Greens. Hazards come in to play on a number of holes, but if you are striking the ball well they shouldn't pose much of a problem, particularly for the more skilled players. The closing two holes stick out in my mind as personal favorites. #17 is a brute of a Par 4 in which you are forced to hit a long and straight tee-shot and then navigate a huge sloping green that is guarded by a canal in front. #18 is a fantastic risk reward dogleg-left Par 5 that looms in the shadow of the majestic Biltmore Hotel. I was able to knock it on in two, but a 3 putt left me scratching my head and wishing I could get out there and try it all again!

I would highly recommend playing the Biltmore if you get the chance. It's not every day that a golfer gets to experience a true classic course of this stature and quality, so if you are traveling to the Miami area make sure to put this one at the top of your list of must-play's!
