The Biltmore Golf Course
About
The Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables sits next to the beautiful hotel, an architectural masterpiece that was modeled after the Giralda Tower in Seville, Spain. Donald Ross designed the course in 1925 and the traditional layout has retained all of its original character. The golf course weaves through a series of canals that used to carry guests along in gondolas. The canals run alongside the lush fairways while towering banyan trees frame the elevated greens. Offering views of the historic hotel from nearly every hole, there are carts available but the golf course is worth the walk. The layout is popular not only for its historic scenery and verdant setting, but also for its playability. Over the years the Biltmore has been host to a number of professional golfers and celebrities ranging from Babe Ruth to Tiger Woods.

The Biltmore experience
I love playing the Biltmore is a great combination of difficulty and fun. It is in the middle of the city and very convenient. However, the rates are too expensive for this course and at this time of the year ( winter rates). If never played, it is worth it if you get a special Golfnow rate, otherwise, probably not worth it unless staying at the hotel or on vacation.
Biltmoregolf
Overall the outing was excellent, staff was what you would expect at a high in resort and the course was in excellent condition with a good pace of play.
Excellent for $40
The price to play this course, yesterday, was perfect. We had a good 4some that was able to play at its own pace. The layout was fun...actually fairly forgiving fairway width, quick greens with subtleties I often didn't read well, and plenty of drinking water fountains. The only drawback, which we all commented on, was the restrictions on a number of holes due to cart path only. We played in just over 4 hours which would have been faster but for all the walking! Yes, there had been rain in the area recently, however, with all the walking we did on those cart path only holes, we never came across any standing water. My guess is that staff was being ultra-conservative in protecting the course. But, for $40 bucks, it was a great deal! Would definitely play again.
Donald Ross at his best
Always a pleasure to play this classic, particularly when you can find a hot deal tee time (this one at $40!)
Like many Florida courses, the wind is its principal defense, though the ample bunkering and water in play on many holes will keep you honest.
Nice but expensive
Great Ross course, but not in pristine condition when the green fee is taken into consideration.
Would play it though!
Good value!
Course was great, layout is typical Donald Ross. The only drawback, greens were aerated a week before.
Ditch Digger miami
Course was in good shape for the Price I paid. However, If I had paid their in-Season Rate a couple months ago I would have been pretty disappointed. Overall great value for the money ($55 w/cart for 18 at 11am).
Biltmore
Excellent, the registration with Golf Now was perfect! Everything was just super well organized!
In the shadow of the Biltmore
I'm visiting from California and play most of my rounds at a country club, shoot in the low 70's. I'd play this course regularly if I lived here. The Miami Hurricane''s women team plays and practices here.
The Biltmore Golf course lies behind the grand Biltmore hotel, a pastel historical icon. Many of the holes have beautiful views of this dramatic high-rise in the middle of a residential neighborhood. It feels old-world. Driving in one is impressed with the southern mansions that line Anastasia Street, though some have seen better days. These same mansions back yards line many of the holes such as 1, 2, 3, 11, 13. The fairways are wide but the backyards remain in play. The greens were in great shape and if you can read the putt, you can make the putt. Iguanas are numerous and seem to have a household on the rock ruins lining the 9th tee. Harmless but dragon-like, they'll serve as your audience on the 9th tee. The staff is friendly and got me out right away. It was Monday and there weren't many golfers on the course, so I won't be able to discuss the pace of play.
There are several interesting holes. The par 5 15th requires a perfect tee shot to go for in two. the 2nd shot is over water to a small green. The Par 4 17th has water all down the left side with an approach over that same water to a well guarded green. Miss long or get wet.
The par 4 5th hole is a 90 degree right turn. 200-220 is all that is needed, otherwise, you'll be in the trees or the 1st fairway. Watch out for the false front to the green as short shots will roll 10 yards off the green.
Great course, classic experience
This is my regular course. Not a member but play there about 15-20 times a year. Play about 50 rounds a year total.
Donald Ross layout is a great one. Challenging greens, ball rolls true (read the breaks). You need to manage the course, don't go pin hunting and set up your approaches. Tee's set up a challenging yet enjoyable experience for every level.
Carts are fully equipped, staff is great with the exception of the cart lady. The regular one has been there for a while and on most days will park under a tree and you'll be lucky if you get to see her. She also marks up items quite a bit.
The rest of the staff is amazing, course restaurant has great breakfasts and sandwiches. Pool bar is available post round. Favorite course in SoFla
First Time
This was the first time I've played this course. It was an overall OK experience. However the pace of play was below average. The food was descent although a bit over priced. Overall OK experience.
very good old course
the staff was very helpful, took very good care of you! First time playing here was a single and got paired up with 3 others and had a great time. the course was in good shape the greens were a little slow because it looked like they had just sanded them, but they rolled very true. Liked the course very much would play again
Great Staff
Nice course, nice property, great staff. I highly recommend it and will play it again
Beautiful surroundings, good golf
The Biltmore resort is impressive and it was fun for my husband and I to play there on our vacation. He's a good golfer and I'm a high handicap, but we both had fun. We did feel the greens were not in good shape and were slow.
Too Bad
Its really a shame that the Biltmore treats those who book through Booknow as second class citizens.
My time was bumped twice to make room for "members"
Wow..
good layout
enjoyed the course... good pace of play...greens were slow but had been raining a lot the week prior..
Poor Greens
Interesting layout with great potential. The Biltmore hotel is beautiful. Perhaps I played it at the wrong time but 11/18 green were aerated in early January without any warning! That was definitely a disappointment. The course has potential if only it wasn't in such poor shape. Also found a ton of sawgrass. Golfnow offers a better deal, but one would be out of their mind to pay full price.
Roger C
Excellent course with a great deal of visual traps. Greens are tricky. Could be better maintained for the price.
Beautiful Historic Course
Course and facilities are beautiful, they had just aerated the greens and it would have been nice to have a heads up, but the facilities are fabulous. I look forward to playing here again; however I will call to find out the schedule for aerification prior to booking a tee time.
Nice Golf
It's a very good Course eighteen holes, in Biltmore Hotel Coral Gables. Easy acces , friendly play.
