Snow Mountain at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
About
There are three championship courses at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, all of which were designed by Pete Dye. Snow Mountain is the original course, joined by Sun Mountain, which is considered the easiest of the three, and Wolf is the newest and most challenging.
At over 7,600 yards, Wolf is also the longest course in Nevada but Snow Mountain is quite lengthy as well at 7,146 yards. Dye incorporated his signature railroad-tie bunkers and water comes into play on seven holes. This risk-reward layout is known for having the best par-3s at the resort. One of these is the stunning 16th hole with its panoramic view of Sheep Mountain. It requires a long carry over water but the bailout area to the right provides a relatively easy up and down and the greenside bunkers don't usually come into play.
Also known as Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort - Nu-Wav-Kaiv Course.

The third, par-5, 557: For those who don’t drive it 300 yards, the fairway’s left side is the more favorable lay-up zone: it best opens up the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/18/2025

The fifth is a long and challenging par-4 of 458, but it’s also fair from tee to cup. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/18/2025

Your tee shot will cross the desert at the par-3 eighth. Running the ball onto the green is dangerous; the ball tends to bounce left/downhill, leaving a difficult pitch. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/18/2025

To drive this 356-yard par-4, your tee shot should cut the corner—across the desert. A great risk/reward hole. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/18/2025

I return to this course
We played in cluster 11 friends and we all agreed that the next trip to Las Vegas return to play this course.
Great layout fun course to play.
Got the twilight time frame. Good value, but the afternoon wind was brutal. Really loved the layout and course design. Beautiful desert scenery.
Perfect course without wind
This course is a wonderful place to go an enjoy a great round of golf. I have played all three golf courses at Paiute and love all three. It's a steal anytime you can find a price of less than 35-40 dollars. The only reason I have it marked down is because more often than not it is incredibly windy out there. Yesterday when I played it was perfect conditions and after the second hole it picked up and didn't let down. We had a steady 30-40 mph wind gust the next 3 hours making the course nearly unplayable. If it weren't for the amount of wind that is so frequent at Paiute it would be my favorite golf course in Las Vegas! Even with the wind though, the staff is pleasant and the grounds are maintained very nicely. Great course, check the forecast for wind first. It can ruin a round in a hurry.
Really liked it
I was paired up with a two other visitors and we had a good time. Course played fair except when the wind kicked up. Fairways in good shape - greens had been sanded not that log ago - it would have been nice to be informed before heading out. While a little bumpy they were still pretty fast though. The layout is great for my game and the scenery can not be beat (if you like desert courses) not a house for miles. I really enjoyed it and hope to go back to play the other two courses someday.
desert gem
This is a great course with first rate facilities. Green fees are fair for the quality of play. Lots of desert rough but the course plays well if you can keep it straight off the tee.
Very Nice Desert Course
Had heard good things about Paiute and was not disappointed. Day was a bit windy, but the course was in great shape and very picturesque. A nice challenge, but not unreasonably difficult. Staff was very friendly - a good day all around. Well worth the drive (20-30 minutes) from Vegas.
The best golf resort in Vegas. 3 Pete Dye courses that are well maintained
I will plan my next trip to Vegas around tee time availability at Paiute. We played the Wolf course the day before and the Sun course the previous year
I can not wait to play there again
Nice desert course
Played the Snow course on a "Hot Deal." The staff was nothing but friendly. Beautiful desert golf, especially the last few holes. It happened to be a very windy day with gusts of 40 MPH. I had tee shots of 205 and 350. That made scoring difficult but didn't diminish from the quality of the course. I didn't have any drinks or food, so that is the only reason for my rating on that. The quality for the price I payed is hard to beat. I will definitely try the other courses on my next visit.
Paiute Snow Mountain
Worth the 20 minute drive NW of the city. Course was in good shape. 3 eighteen hole courses at the resort (Snow, Sun, and Wolf) and I would return to try the other two. Only complaint I had is the wind, but it was a very windy week in Vegas so I dont know how it blows here on a normal day.
Serene and rewarding
The attention to detail is admirable. The grounds, the facilities and the course are spotless. The staff is ready and attentive without being over the top. Cold water is available every three holes
The fairways and the greens are firm. I was forewarned by the starter that the greens were recently aerated and thus ran slow. The fairways are wide and the greens undulations are around the perimeters,
I teed off at 2:45 and the pace of play on the front 9 was superb. The back 9 slowed terribly. I was stuck behind a 2-some and a 4-some who must have treated the beverage cart as though it was the 19th hole. By the 16th hole I had caught up on every email, read 2 days worth of twitter feeds, and cleaned every club in my bag, at which point I decided to bail. No sense in playing under those circumstances.
Update as to plugging fairways and greens
We felt taken a bit as the fairways had been plugged and the greens top dressed recently and they didn't tell us and they charged us the rack rate of $125. Should have let us know and/or offered a discount. Great 3 courses but would have been good to been alerted to the recent maintenance.
Nice course
Unfortunately I played after they had recently airified the greens so they were very bumpy and covered in sand. When the course is in good condition it's fun to play.
Paiute is Superb
I've played all 3 Paiute courses numerous times, and I am never disappointed. The courses are always in spectacular condition, the staff members are always friendly and helpful, and the prices are generally the best in all of Vegas for championship style golf. I knew that Paiute had suffered a lot of storm damage from the winter, but you'd never know it playing there now. They have done a magnificent job getting the courses back into premier condition. I wasn't disappointed this time, and I've never been disappointed playing there in the past. Pace of play could have been a little better, although it wasn't terrible. They do a good job of letting you enjoy your round without pushing you, but also without affecting the folks behind you. Best golf in all of Vegas.
Las Vegas Delight
Basically you cannot go to Vegas & not play this course. Better for the pure hitter as a couple of the par 3's are over water. Only played Snow Mountain, will be playing all courses next visit.
Great course tough weather
High winds with 40 mph gusts made this a tough day. Ended up playing alone. Disappointed but can't control the weather.
Drive to course only drawback
Excellent Course, conditions and staff. Only drawback was the drive but for a course like this its bearable.
Desert golf at its best
Played from the white tees, this is a comfortable but interesting course a bogy golfer. The course itself is extremely well maintained and has excellent facilities.
Cold windy round
Great staff... very friendly. Course was a fun, challenging layout which my son and I enjoyed immensely. The weather, however, was equally challenging... quite cold and very windy. The course conditions were very good as well.
Worth the ride
If staying in Vegas, the ride is about 35 - 45 minutes and worh the extra ride if you have a rental, but not sure I'd try it in a cab with so much other great golf in the area. The course and resort are pretty isolated with no develpment nearby, so views are unobstructed, though the immediate area does not show a great deal of contour. Course has the usual Dye contours around and on the greens. Several tee boxes.
