Journey at Pechanga
About
Journey at Pechanga was built on the ancestral land of the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians. The land is also home to "The Great Oak," one of the largest natural growing, indigenous coastal, live oak trees in the U.S. It is estimated to be anywhere from 850 to 1,500 years old. The golf course was carefully carved from the rolling hills that stretch Pechanga Creek to the surrounding mountains. Great care was taken in creating the course in order to preserve the beautiful land that has been home to the Pechanga Tribe for countless generations. Mature California oaks frame most of the holes and the dramatic elevations provide breathtaking views of Temecula Valley. The challenging layout will reward accurate shot-making but will punish any errant shots.

Greens
You need to know how far you hit your clubs to play this course. Lots of forced carries, trees, ponds, and other things. Hit left fairway and went into the water on the right on one hole. Lots of bird droppings, which I didn't like. Putting surface was tough. Worst putting round I've ever had, not sure if it was me or the course. Tough pin placements, lots of undulation. One of my favorite courses, so I must be a masochist. Great chipping area for warm up.
Amazing course
Great golf course, I brought about ten different friends there over the last couple years and everyone loves it . There are alot of 100 to 150 dollar courses in near me that aren't worth half that. Journeys is worth every penny.
Awesome layout, perfect conditions
Courses is in fantastic shape right now. Layout is always good, staff very helpful
Richard H.
Range balls included with green fees, went out as a twosome as the other two didn't show. Passed a slow foursome on the forth hole and another foursome let us through at the turn finished in 3.5 hours from 12:30 to 4:00. Greens are really fast and difficult.
Pechanga Jan 2021
Greens are perfect like usual. Fairways are in tough shape because they didn’t over seed but the golf course is always nice. Saw two coyotes. They need to do something about the Coots on 15 green. A lot of bird poop there
Yikes
I’ve played this course numerous times and this was by far the worst experience here. The grass is dormant so it makes for tough fairways and lightning greens.our golf cart was broken making it a long round as it would just shut off every 2 minutes. The range was closed pay all that money to use the amenities that weren’t even open. Especially because of the price there’s no doubt in my mind redhawk, glen ivy, and cross creek are better overall experiences!
Great course in SoCal
I have played many courses in California and this course is in my top 10 !
12/13/20
It’s winter so the fairways were pretty yellow and not lush at all. Only 3 holes were cart path only. Tee boxes, greens and rough around the greens were really good. Customer service was excellent, Vincent is a super friendly/ informative starter . Layout is beautiful with great views of the valley from 6, 17 & 18. Will definitely be back in the spring!
Fun course to play!
The course as always great! Disappointed with cart path only.
Casino Golf
Ahhhh. Casino golf is almost like a private course. They have a positive cash flow which allows them to charge premium prices. This equates to limited players tearing up the course. The staff was gracious. Separate parking from casino and the clubhouse was excellent. Premium carts- covid rules allowed single carts which helps speed play. Greens were fast. Now for the not so special. We had a beginner group ahead of us. Took 3+ hours to play front 9. Cart path, no marshals, and that the slow group didn't know etiquette to allow us to play through was frustrating.. Finally in the back 9, we " vocally pushed" them to play faster (darkness approaching) and completed back 9 in 2.5 hours. IMO, the elevated tees were gimmicky. Some fairways were being worked on but not that big of a deal. Overall, I would recommend that you play here at least once. Will return when Cart path is not in force.
Amazing Views
The course was in great shape for the most part despite the recent overseeding and rain. We were very fortunate that it wasn't cart path only as there would be very long walka from path to your ball. There were some holes not marked path only but when you went off of the path, the cart would stop going forward and you could only drive in reverse back to the path.
The greens were amazing and were rolling around a 10 or 11 on the stimpmeter. Fast in spots if downhill but not unplayable.
The rough was pretty thick/long but totally playable. The fairways were great and your ball really sat up nicely. The only thing was the fairways were under repair on a few holes (1st hole- tore out strips of grass without replacing and 9th hole- took out the grass and put new grass in).
I had played summer 2019 and loved the layout. When I played yesterday, there were some wierd changes to holes 13 and 16 which were great holes that didn't need any adjustment. Hole 13 was a great uphill par 5 and they moved it up to 360 yards (par 4). It had a wierd feel and was a shame. Hole 16 was a great 420 yard par 4 hole with a lake down the entire left side and short of the green. They added 80 yards to make it a very weak par 5.
The views on 6, 17 and 18 are breathtaking and have your camera ready. If you're older, be aware that there are long walks from the cart path to green or tee complexes with down/uphill slopes. The last tee time is around 12 pm as the sun drops behind the mountain at around 330 and it gets dark very quickly and the temp drops about 10-15 degrees. Right now you can see until around 415 or so but its a shame to miss the views on 17 and 18 of the temecula valley.
I truly love this course but am bummed with what they did on 13 and 16.
Fun and challenging
Heard a lot about the course and finally got to l play it. Conditions were great. Greens rolled true and relatively fast. Only bad thing was that it was cart path only for this month. Played from the tips and several of the par 4s were close to 500 yards in length. Really have to be on from the tee. There are a few beautiful yet gimmicky holes where you’re driving the ball down hill and not knowing really where to land etc. I got lucky first timer most of the day. Overall awesome track and I’ll be back!
Ok.
For the money paid to play here, not worth it. Could not drive on the fairways. Lots of walking. 5 hours round.
Play here and lower your handicap
The course conditions were so good it was nearly impossible to have a bad day. Shot my best in a year and I’m always happy to support businesses that support our military and first responders with discounts. Play here
